Mario Mazzocca, councillor for energy, environment and local bodies in the Italian region of Abruzzo says he aims to take renewable energy consumption beyond the EU’s target of at least a 40% CO2 emissions reduction on 1990 levels by 2030. He is convinced that local and regional bodies have an important role to play in international climate action, which is why he will attend the UN’s Conference of Parties in Paris in December 2015.
